The Israeli Defense Army (IDF) confirmed on Tuesday it carried out a strike in Beirut, targeting a Hezbollah commander responsible for a recent attack on the Golan Heights, according to a release by the army on X.
"The IDF targeted in Beirut the commander responsible for the murder of the children in Majdal Shams and killed many Israeli civilians," the message said. The Hezbollah commander targeted is apparently Fuad Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsin, a senior advisor to the group's leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Previously, several media reported a loud blast at around 7:40 pm local time near Hezbollah's Shura Council in Haret Hreik. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated minutes after the strike that "Hezbollah crossed the red line."
