Lockheed Martin, Google to integrate AI in defense tech

The Lockheed Martin Corporation announced on Thursday that it teamed up with Google Public Sector to integrate advanced generative AI into defense systems. The goal is to boost national security, aerospace, and science operations through faster deployment and enhanced AI performance.

"Using Google Cloud’s AI technologies allows us to explore a wide range of powerful capabilities to deliver innovative, reliable solutions that stay ahead of the curve," Lockheed Martin Technology & Strategic Innovation senior Vice President John Clark explained. Among other things, Lockheed Martin will use the new AI tools to improve intelligence, decision-making, engineering, maintenance, and training.

The weapons industry behemoth stressed that Google Cloud’s Vertex AI helps organizations train, deploy, and customize large language models (LLMs) securely and at scale, aligning with Lockheed Martin’s global AI goals.
