The Trump administration officials are set to meet with top executives from Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. this week ahead of United States President Donald Trump's incoming auto tariffs, the Detroit Free Press reported on Wednesday, citing four people familiar with the plans.

According to the report, the administration officials are set to meet with Ford's Executive Chair Bill Ford in Washington, and they are also expected to have meetings with General Motors' CEO and Chair Mary Barra, although the meetings with Barra may not be in person. The carmakers' executives are reportedly meeting with Trump's aides to address the "dire" impact the auto tariffs would have on their companies.

Trump previously announced he will impose a 25% tariff on imported vehicles and car parts from different regions, noting that the announcement will be made "very soon." The tariff is expected to take effect around April 2.
