Canadian police charged three people over their alleged involvement in the murder of Sikh Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar (pictured).
Court documents showed that Karanpreet Singh, Kamalpreet Singh and Karan Brar were charged with first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. The police added they are still investigating if the Indian state played any role in the killing.
Nijjar was killed in June 2023 and several months later, in September, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of potentially being behind the killing of the Sikh activist, causing a diplomatic spat between the two countries.
