The House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump on Wednesday for the second time, charging him with incitement of insurrection over his rally speech prior to the storming of the US Capitol last week.
A total of 232 representatives voted for House Resolution 24, including ten Republicans, paving the way for Trump's impeachment. He is the first US president to have been impeached twice.
Earlier, outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that the Senate would not reconvene before January 19, meaning Trump's impeachment trial will take place after he leaves the White House.
