Former United States President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that social media companies "ceased to be private" due to their use of Section 230.
"No other companies in our country ... have had protection like this," Trump said, asserting that the rule is "in effect a massive government subsidy."
The ex-president argued that the social media giants have been "co-opted, coerced and weaponized by government actors to become enforcers of illegal unconstitutional censorship."
