United States President Joe Biden has inked a stand-alone continuing resolution aimed at averting a government shutdown on September 30, the end of the US fiscal year.
The stopgap bill, passed by the Senate and the House, will keep the federal agencies funded through December 3, giving lawmakers more time to reach an agreement on next year's appropriations bills.
With the budget extension approved, the Democratic lawmakers will shift focus on passing Biden's sweeping domestic agenda, which covers a $1.2 trillion infrastructure plan and a $3.5 trillion spending.
