UNSPLASH / KANCHANARA

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved on Thursday spot Ethereum ETFs.

The regulator noted it granted "accelerated approval of proposed rule changes to list and trade shares of Ether-based exchange-traded products." The ETFs that received approval are the Grayscale Ethereum Trust and the Bitwise Ethereum ETF, as well as the iShares Ethereum Trust, VanEck Ethereum Trust, ARK 21Shares Ethereum ETF, Invesco Galaxy Ethereum ETF, Fidelity Ethereum Fund and Franklin Ethereum ETF.

Before the spot ETFs can start trading, the SEC will need to grant them the issuers' registration statements, known as S-1s, which could take several weeks.
