United States Democratic Representative from Wisconsin Mark Pocan announced on Wednesday his plans to introduce the Eliminate Looting of Our Nation by Mitigating Unethical State Kleptocracy (ELON MUSK) Act, which would ban "special government employees" from having federal contracts.
"No government employee, 'Special' or not, should have any financial interest in who the government does business with. Elon Musk is the poster child for this type of abuse. After more than $20 billion in federal contracts, there's no way Musk can be objective in what he's doing. Protecting the taxpayers has to be our number one priority," Pocan said.
This bill came one day after the US House and Senate Democrats introduced another bill to block "unlawful access" of Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to the US Department of the Treasury payment system. Both bills still have to be approved by the US House Committee on Rules.
