Ontario Premier Doug Ford confirmed on Monday that starting today, the United States citizens who are getting their electricity from Canada's most populous province will be paying 25% more.

"I will not hesitate to increase this charge. If the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to shut the electricity off completely ... Believe me when I say I do not want to do this. I feel terrible for the American people who didn't start this trade war. It's one person who is responsible, it's [US] President [Donald] Trump," he underlined during a press briefing.

Ontario supplies electricity to Minnesota, New York, and Michigan. The number of people to be affected by this rise in price stands at around 1.5 million.
