The British Ministry of Defence in its latest update said "heavy fighting" has been taking place in the Kherson Oblast as Ukrainian forces continue to clash with the Russians west of the River Dnipro.

The statement claimed the Russian military is likely using artillery fire along the natural barrier of the Ingulets River in an attempt to slow the enemy.

"The Russian army prioritizes maintaining its military bridging capability, but any attempt to construct a crossing of the Dnipro would be a very high-risk operation," the ministry concluded.
