'Serious' stabbing attack occurs in Wales, police says

South Wales Police stated on Tuesday that the increased number of servicemen is currently present in the town of Aberfan following a stabbing described as a "serious assault."

According to the police, the incident took place around 9:10 am local time on Moy Road street. The Welsh Ambulance Service added the ambulance took one person to hospital and that "critical care support" was needed. The person is currently being treated at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Member of the British Parliament (MP) for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney Gerald Jones warned the public that "[y]ou may see an increased police presence in the area, and I'd encourage everyone to co-operate with police officers as they deal with the incident."
