One person was killed and six people were injured after a car drove into the terrace of a cafe in Paris' 20th arrondissement on Wednesday.

Among the injured, three people are said to be in critical condition. French media cited police sources as saying that the driver fled the scene, while the passenger who was with him was arrested and tested positive for drugs and alcohol. The police believe the driving into the cafe was an accident, but are still investigating.

The incident occurred after France increased security in Paris ahead of the Olympic Games set to kick off in the French capital next week. Earlier in the day, French police arrested a suspected neo-Nazi on suspicion he was preparing attacks during the Olympics.
