More than 100 patients who could not move remained in "crowded rooms and corridors" of the Nasser Hospital in the Gazan city of Khan Younis, while 14 patients were evacuated with the assistance of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry reported.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) detained 70 administrative and medical staff members under suspicion that they were affiliated with Hamas, leaving the patients without proper care after electrical and oxygen generators in the hospital stopped working, according to the ministry. Osaid Alser, a Gaza surgeon, stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that claims of Hamas activity in the hospital are "nonsense."
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated on Sunday that the Nasser Hospital is not functional anymore.
