South Korea's authorities confirmed that all 175 passengers on board the Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Bangkok to Muan and four crew members were killed when the aircraft crashed.
The firefighting agency added that two crew members were rescued from the site.
Earlier, the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said the plane was warned of a bird strike ahead of the landing and then proceeded to suffer airframe failure during an attempted landing. However, some experts claim such failure could not have been caused by a bird strike alone.
