Pakistani troops clashed with separatist rebels in Balochistan's Kalat district, leaving 18 security personnel and 12 insurgents dead, the Associated Press reported on Saturday, citing officials.

The fighting erupted after insurgents set up roadblocks on a key highway near the Afghanistan border. Security forces engaged the attackers and managed to clear the barricade after an overnight battle.

The Baloch National Army (BNA), one of several separatist groups in Balochistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.
