The second global COVID-19 summit will be held virtually on May 12 and co-hosted by the United States, Germany, Belize, Indonesia and Senegal, the organizers announced on Monday. The summit aims to "redouble our collective efforts to end the acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for future health threats."
The co-hosts stated the summit will address vaccination, deploying tests and treatments, expanding and protecting the health workforce, enhancing research and development, and raising funds for pandemic preparedness, health security, and health systems.
