The head of the government media office in Gaza shared alarming statistics on the situation in the enclave with Al Jazeera. According to his translated comments, the Israeli army has dropped 40,000 tons of bombs on Gaza since October 7.

He emphasized that a third of Gaza's population is deprived of basic necessities, highlighting the dire humanitarian crisis. The official further stressed that the extensive damage caused by the Israeli army indicates a deliberate attempt to render Gaza uninhabitable, adding that the number of children killed in Gaza alone exceeds the total from all conflicts worldwide last year.

His comments come amid a four-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
