5.8-magnitude earthquake hits Peru-Ecuador border

EUROPEAN-MEDITERRANEAN SEISMOLOGICAL CENTRE

A powerful 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the region hosting the Peru-Ecuador border, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported on Wednesday.

The quake was located at a depth of 60 kilometers, 19 kilometers northeast of Peruan city of Sullana and 13 kilometers east of the town of Querecotillo.

Witnesses reported longer shaking that was waking people up and moving house doors.
