Six people died when a medical jet crashed shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport last night, city officials confirmed Saturday.

The Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, was en route to Springfield-Branson Airport in Missouri before continuing to Mexico. It carried a pediatric patient who had been treated at Shriners Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, her mother and four crew members. City officials also reported injuries among people on the ground, but a full count is still unavailable.

Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated all six victims were Mexican nationals.
