An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 rocked western Turkey on Wednesday, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
The quake's epicenter was registered 39 kilometers southwest of Buyukcekmece, and 26 kilometers south of the district of Silivri in Istanbul Province, at a depth of 6 kilometers. According to the EMSC, the initial earthquake was followed by several more with magnitudes ranging between 4.4 and 5.3.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that no reports on damage or casualties have been received yet.
