Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) decided to lay off about 4% of its global staff, a company's spokesperson told CRN on Wednesday.
"As a part of aligning our resources with our largest growth opportunities, we are taking a number of targeted steps that will, unfortunately, result in reducing our global workforce by approximately 4%," the spokesperson said, vowing that the company will help the impacted workers "through this transition."
The announcement comes amid AMD's efforts to rival Nvidia in AI chip development.
