Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador urged on Thursday the Hispanic population in Florida not to vote for the Sunshine State's Governor Ron DeSantis a day after the latter announced his bid for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election.
Speaking to the media at a press conference, Lopez Obrador expressed his hope the "Hispanics in Florida will wake up," not cast "one single vote" for DeSantis, and not vote "for those who persecute migrants, those who do not respect migrants."
DeSantis's immigration policies include signing the anti-sanctuary city bill, which forbade the creation of legal protection settlements for immigrants in Florida's territory, and the forced transfer of immigrants from Florida to other states.
