AT&T Inc. announced on Monday that it will sell its remaining stake in digital satellite service provider DirecTV to private equity firm TPG Inc. for $7.6 billion. AT&T currently holds a 70% stake in DirecTV.
"This sale allows AT&T to continue to focus on being the leading wireless 5G and fiber connectivity company in America. This transaction also continues to strengthen AT&T's balance sheet by pulling forward cash expected over the next several years," the telecom company said. The deal is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025.
