US chipmaking giant Micron Technology will begin producing its cutting-edge "1 beta" memory chips at its Hiroshima plant in Japan, Chief Business Officer Sumit Sadana told Nikkei Asia on Friday.
Sadana did not reveal the size of the upcoming investment, as he noted Micron is still discussing the details of government subsidies and various other factors.
On October 21, Nikkei reported that Micron had been negotiating with governments across the world over setting up new chip manufacturing locations primarily in Europe and Japan.
