An active shooter situation was reported at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday, with officials confirming a 17-year-old was shot in the leg.
According to several media reports, police responded to reports of gunfire at the school around 1:00 pm local time. Sources told the WFAA channel that around 1:45 pm, the threat was under control. The Dallas Independent School District (ISD) posted about the incident on social media and asked the public not to go to the campus. The organization added that safety protocols had been implemented and reunification plans would be shared shortly.
Numerous fire trucks and police vehicles surrounded the school as authorities secured the area. No statement on suspects or details concerning the shooting has been released so far.
