United States Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo once again called on Congress on Wednesday to reach a deal in relation to raising the debt ceiling.

During a meeting convened by the Bank Policy Institute (BPI), Adeyemo underscored the issue must be resolved so that the country's full faith and credit can be protected. Furthermore, he added that the debt ceiling must be raised in order to "avoid needlessly undermining our strong economic trajectory."

US President Joe Biden previously stressed that the Congressional leaders promised the country will not default, with the lawmakers expressing hope that the deal will be made in the "next week or so."
