Pentagon: Ukraine makes its own targeting decisions

United States Department of Defense (DoD) press secretary Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder (pictured) underlined on Monday that Ukraine makes its own targeting decisions after Russia blamed the US for an attack on Crimea.

"The ability to be able to fire back when fired upon is really what this policy is focused on. Again, as we see Russian forces firing across the border, the ability for Ukraine to fire back at those ground forces using US-provided munitions, is self-defense, and it makes sense for them to be able to do that," Ryder told reporters.

Earlier, Russia accused the US of being responsible for a Ukrainian attack on Crimea's Sevastopol that killed four people, including two minors, using a US-supplied missile. In addition, the Kremlin warned the US of "consequences" and summoned its ambassador.
