Stewart Butterfield, chief executive officer of Salesforce Inc.-owned platform Slack Technologies Inc. will be stepping down from his position in January 2023, the parent company announced on Monday.
In a statement to CNBC, a company spokesperson praised Butterfield for leading the "successful integration of Slack into Salesforce," saying he was "instrumental" in choosing his successor, Lidiane Jones, the current executive vice president of Salesforce.
The move comes as co-CEO of Salesforce Bret Taylor resigned last week, leaving Marc Benioff the sole chair of the company, triggering a fall in Salesforce's shares. Salesforce acquired Slack in a $27.7 billion deal finalized in 2021.
