Air France announced on Monday the cancellation of its flights to Burkina Faso and Mali amid the deterioration of the situation in Niger. On Sunday, Niamey military junta decided to close its airspace.
The new measure adds to a strip of African airspace facing geopolitical disruptions, including Sudan and Libya.
Meanwhile, Niger expected a response from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) after the junta ignored the deadline for reinstating the ousted president.
