The alert was triggered in the regions of Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava and Sumy. The sirens were canceled some 40 minutes after being announced.

The regions in question are important militarily for both Russia and Ukraine due to their geographical location, their military infrastructure and strategic significance for controlling the eastern part of Ukraine.
