Airbus SE and Dassault Aviation SA have reached a tentative agreement regarding the Next Generation Fighter (NGF), a component of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project, La Tribune reported on Friday citing sources familiar with the matter.

The news comes after weeks of deadlock, with France and Germany arguing over two out of seven points of cooperation. The agreement will allow the governments of France, Germany, and Spain to continue talks at the political level as backers of the FCAS project, the outlet said.

FCAS is a combination of systems built around the NGF, a sixth-generation fighter jet. Last month, Airbus warned Dassault that there is "no plan B" should the negotiations come to a halt.
