Al Jazeera Media Network issued a statement condemning the killing of its journalist, Hossam Shabat, who died in an Israeli airstrike in Jabalia, northern Gaza, on Monday.

The news agency's correspondent was in his car when the attack occurred. In a statement, the network vowed to take legal action against those responsible for attacks on journalists.

"Al Jazeera affirms its commitment to pursue all legal measures to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes against journalists," the network said. Despite the risks, the network reaffirmed its commitment to reporting from Gaza. It also expressed solidarity with reporters in Gaza and called for justice for more than 200 journalists killed since October 2023.
