Albanian PM rejects claims of Gazans relocation

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on Monday dismissed claims that Albania will welcome 100,000 forcibly displaced Gazans from the Palestinian enclave.

"Full respect and solidarity for the people of Gaza, who have been dehumanized by the savage Hamas regime and have endured a hellish war following the medieval horrors of October 7," Rama wrote in a post on X, stressing that Albania "has not been asked by anyone" nor can it accept "such responsibility."

"Albania is not in the Middle East itself, and from the heart of Europe, we cannot do more than any other European country in such a matter," the prime minister went on, underlining the need for Palestinians to be given the chance to live as "free people under democratic rule" in their own state while expressing hope that Hamas would never again pose a threat to Israel.
