Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stressed on Saturday in a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 that crashed in Kazakhstan suffered "external physical and technical interference" in the latter country's airspace, "resulting in a complete loss of control."

According to the presidential office's website, Aliyev stressed that "multiple holes in the aircraft's fuselage, injuries sustained by passengers and crew due to foreign particles penetrating the cabin mid-flight, and testimonies from surviving flight attendants and passengers" confirm that.

Like Putin in the Kremlin's statement on the phone call, Aliyev also noted the importance and necessity for a mutual probe into the crash.
