United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak pointed out on Wednesday that the government "is using all the tools at our disposal" to knock down inflation, which moments ago was measured at a new four-decade high.
In a statement, he singled out "targeted action to help families, getting £1,200 to the eight million most vulnerable households" as one such measure.
"Independent monetary policy, responsible fiscal policy which doesn't add to inflationary pressures, and ... boosting our long-term productivity and growth" are prerequisites for a "stronger economy," according to Sunak.
