Airbus SE announced on Tuesday that it will collaborate with Amazon.com Inc. on inflight connectivity via Amazon's Project Kuiper low Earth orbit satellites. The tech giant said it plans to form a constellation of more than 3,200 satellites, with the first launch scheduled for Wednesday.
Airbus said Amazon's service will offer downlink speeds of up to one gigabit per second to "help airlines meet their passengers’ growing expectations." The aircraft manufacturer did not provide a rollout timeline, while Amazon is required by the United States Federal Communications Commission to deploy the constellation by July 30, 2029.
