Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recept Tayyip Erdogan did not discuss the possibility of multilateral talks on the war in Ukraine. The two met on the sidelines of a summit in Kazakhstan and talked for around an hour and a half, according to Peskov.

The Kremlin stated on Wednesday that it expects Erdogan to offer to mediate in the process and lay out a proposal for renewed negotiations. The Turkish president himself set out to "stop the bloodshed" in Ukraine and "continue the momentum" gained in the grain export deal and prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine.
