Apple Music became available on Amazon Fire TV on Wednesday in the United States, only months after it launched on Amazon Echo speakers, CNBC reported. Apart from playing Amazon Music and Spotify, users can now tell Amazon virtual assistant Alexa to play Apple Music for them. Apple's decision to make Apple Music available through a larger number of services and devices reflects the company's intent to appeal to wider audiences globally.
In order to listen to Apple Music on Amazon Fire TV, consumers need to have the Alexa app installed on their smartphones and enable the Apple Music skill on it. After that, they will be prompted to sign into their Apple account. Additionally, if Apple Music is already enabled on Echo, users don't have to do it again on Amazon Fire TV.
Apple shares traded 0.96% in the positive territory at 2:25 pm ET, while Amazon stock increased by 1.48% at the same time.
