Apple Inc. announced a new iPad featuring a 9.7-inch Retina display at $329, making it the most affordable tablet launched by the Cupertino-based company ever, according to a blog post published on Tuesday.
"New customers and anyone looking to upgrade will love this new iPad for use at home, in school, and for work, with its gorgeous Retina display, our powerful A9 chip, and access to the more than 1.3 million apps designed specifically for it," Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller said in a statement.
The iPhone maker also introduced a special edition of its famous iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices in a red aluminum finish in partnership with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (RED), and unveiled Clips, a new app for iPhone and iPad that allows users to create expressive videos on their devices and share them on social networks.
The new iPad comes in silver, gold and space gray, starting at $329 in the United States for the 32GB with Wi-Fi and $459 for the 32GB Wi-Fi and Cellular model. It will be available to order beginning on March 24 and will arrive in Apple Stores next week in the US and more than 20 other countries.
