The Armenian Defense Ministry reported new border clashes with Azerbaijan overnight on Monday, accusing the Azerbaijani forces of opening fire from various small arms of different calibers.
The ministry said neither of the two ex-Soviet adversaries suffered casualties in the latest outbreak of fighting. "As of 10:00 pm, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is relatively stable," ministry spokesman Aram Torosyan stated.
The two countries agreed to a ceasefire in November 2020 to end the clashes that started in September of that year over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. However, many shootings along the border have been reported since.
