Major stock market indexes in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Friday after the People's Bank of China (PBoC) decision to keep its key interest rate the same and ahead of the Bank of Japan's similar announcement. Meanwhile, Japan posted a projected rise in its annual inflation.
Japan's Nikkei 225 soared by 2.15% or 789 points at 4:05 am CET as the dollar lost 0.09% to the yen to sell for ¥142.5045. A minute later, South Korea's Kospi increased by 1.06%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.45% at 4:07 am CET.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite decreased by 0.20% at 3:53 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite by 0.37%. Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng surged by 1.56% or 280 points at 4:09 am CET.
