Major stock indexes in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Monday, as investors received the latest People's Bank of China (PBoC) decision to hold interest rates at 3.45%. Moreover, markets are also waiting for the Japanese monetary policy update that will be published on Tuesday.
Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed by 1.62% to its highest level since January 1990 and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.33% at their closing times. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 2.29% and South Korea's Kospi fell 0.08% at 7:08 am CET.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite dropped by 1.38% at 7:12 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite added 2.70% at 7:10 am CET.
The dollar traded 0.08% lower against the yen at 7:08 am CET, selling for 148.0375.
