Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded flat to higher during the afternoon session on Monday after Japan released its data on industrial output, which showed a slight monthly decline of 0.1% in May, and China published its report on the trade surplus in the country, which jumped to $114.8 billion in May. Investors also kept their focus on United States President Donald Trump's new tariffs and a potential meeting between the US president and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
South Korea's Kospi climbed by 0.69% at 7:08 am CET, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose by 0.26% at the same time. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite advanced by 0.48% at 7:08 am CET. Meanwhile, Japan's Nikkei 225, Australia's S&P/ASX 200, and the Shenzhen Composite all traded flat at 7:09 am CET.
The dollar also traded flat against the yen at 7:11 am CET, going for ¥147.3320.
