Asia-Pacific markets rose Tuesday as China reaffirmed it would "fight to the end" after US President Donald Trump renewed threats of a 50% tariff on Chinese goods. Japan named Ryosei Akazawa its top US trade negotiator and reports say Beijing is preparing countermeasures and continues to vow strong retaliation, lifting regional sentiment.
Japan's Nikkei 225 soared by 5.20% at 7:09 am CET. South Korea's Kospi gained 0.26%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng jumped 1.32%, simultaneously. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite traded 0.68% higher while the Shenzhen Composite went 0.19% up at the same time. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 advanced 1.90%.
The dollar lost 0.10% against the Japanese yen at 7:09 am CET, selling for 147.6760.
