Stock markets in Asia traded mixed on Tuesday following positive economic readings from Japan and negative from China. Japan's GDP surged 6% on a yearly basis in the second quarter or 1.5% compared to the first quarter, much higher than expected. Meanwhile, Chinese retail sales and industrial production both underperformed in July.
The Nikkei 225 was up by 0.69% at 4:18 am CET, and the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.59%. The Hang Seng went down by 0.89%, the Shanghai Composite declined by 0.12%, and the Shenzhen Composite fell by 0.56% a minute later. South Korea's Kospi was closed for a holiday.
The dollar traded 0.07% lower compared to the yen and went for 145.4455 at 4:20 am CET.
