Asia mostly higher on second day of US-China talks

Asia-Pacific markets traded mostly higher on Tuesday, with investors closely watching the second day of trade negotiations between the United States and China in London. The meeting, set for 10:00 am local time, brings together Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and senior US officials including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

Positive sentiment was supported by remarks from Bessent and Lutnick, who described Monday's talks as "fruitful." US President Donald Trump added he was receiving "good reports from London."

Japan's Nikkei 225 traded 0.77% higher at 7:18 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 0.35% and South Korea's Kospi climbed 0.26%. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite decreased 0.49% while the Shenzhen Composite jumped 1.06% at the same time. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.85%. The dollar traded 0.17% higher against the yen at 7:17 am CET, selling for 144.7880.
