Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly lower during the afternoon session on Friday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 coming down from its highs caused by United States President Donald Trump's trade deal with Tokyo. Investors also digested Japan's latest inflation figures, which came in at 2.9% in July.
Japan's Nikkei declined by 0.90% at 7:12 am CET, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng dipped by 0.92% a minute later. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 decreased by 0.46% at 7:14 am CET, while South Korea's Kospi rose by 0.22% at the same time, on trade optimism following the meeting between South Korean Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite slipped by 0.13% at 7:15 am CET, while the Shanghai Composite was down 0.30% at 7:16 am CET.
The dollar traded flat compared to the yen, going for ¥147.1195 at 7:16 am CET.
