Market concerns over the ongoing US-China tariff war were tempered by news that Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit Washington soon, raising hopes for a potential diplomatic solution to tariff disputes between the world's two largest economies.
At 03:35 am CET, Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 1.46%, while the Australian S&P/ASX 200 rose 16%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index advanced 1.93% and South Korea's Kospi Composite JUMPED 1.96%. On the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Composite increased 0.38% at 03:37 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite up 0.35% a minute later.
Meanwhile, the US dollar stood at 0.20% against the yen at 03:32 am CET, going for ¥149.50450.
