Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed on Wednesday after United States President Donald Trump said that tariff-related payments will begin on August 1, adding that he's working on "five or six" trade deals.
Earlier, Trump said that his trade deal with Indonesia includes a provision for a 19% tariff on its exports to the US.
Japan's Nikkei 225 was down 0.09% at 4:30 am CET. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.86% at 4:32 am CET. South Korea's Kospi Composite decreased by 0.63% a minute later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.42% at 4:33 am CET, while, on the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Composite lowered by 0.16% and the Shenzhen Composite increased by 0.27%.
The dollar traded flat against the yen, going for ¥148.9400 at 4:35 am CET.
